Become an Ambassador for the ABAI FAQs

• What is the timeframe to apply for the ABAI Ambassador Self-Nomination?

  The application will be open from June 29th through August 15th

• When will I be notified of my status?

  You will receive communication from the Board upon receiving your application.

• How long will I be required to serve as an ambassador?

  Ambassadors will serve terms renewable every two (2) years which is dependent on “Meeting MOC requirements” and past performance as an ambassador.

• How many ambassadors does ABAI hope to have?

  There is no minimum or maximum number of ABAI ambassadors.

• Do ambassadors receive CME credit?

  We are unable to grant CME credit for being an ambassador.

• Are ambassadors exempt from any MOC activities?

  As for all ABAI volunteers, ambassadors must meet be all MOC requirements at the time of self-nomination as well as throughout their term as an ambassador. There are no activity exemptions for ambassadors at this time.

• Will I receive an honorarium?

  We are unable to grant an honorarium for being an ambassador; however, the MOC annual fee will be waived for Ambassador’s who complete at least one local engagement each year while serving as an ambassador.

• Is ABAI paying for travel expenses?

  Yes. With prior approval, travel expenses directly related to ambassador duties will be reimbursed.

• Who is responsible for making my travel arrangements?

  Ambassadors are responsible for their own travel arrangements.

• How many speaking engagements is required per year?

  There are no predetermined minimum speaking engagements. This will be determined by local and regional needs and your availability.

• Will I receive training and have access to presentation material?

  Yes, you will receive orientation training and will be provided updates on ABAI standards, programs and initiatives throughout your tenure. Up to date slide decks and other resources will be made available to you.

• I’ve created content to share at a speaking engagement, does it have to be reviewed?

  All content that is presented on behalf of the ABAI will need to be reviewed and approved by ABAI leadership/staff at least two weeks prior to your speaking engagement.
